MPI is fully compliant with the European Union's (EU) Restriction of Certain Hazardous Substances (RoHS) and Waste from Electrical and Electronic Equipment (WEEE) Directives which required the reduction and/or removal of a number of hazardous substances, including lead and other materials, from most electronic components, products and assemblies by July 1, 2006, as well as the recycling of most electrical and electronic equipment beginning on August 13, 2005.
The RoHS Directive (EU Directive 2002/95/EC) mandates that electrical and electronic products (EEE) put on the market within the European Union (EU) shall contain restrictive levels of the following substances:
- Lead (Pb)
- Cadmium (Cd)
- Mercury (Hg)
- Hexavalent Chromium (Cr6+)
- Polybrominated Biphenyls (PBB)
- Polybrominated Diphenyl Ethers (PBDE)
At MPI, we incorporate RoHS compliance into our procurement and manufacturing processes. We have been leading our customer's on a migration path to compliance since 2005. We can process RoHS assemblies for those that need it while still offering a leaded process to other customers with exemptions from the RoHS Directives.
