JOB OUTLINE:
Component engineering, ensure parts (components) used in Microboard Processing Inc.’s (MPI) products are reliable and effective, including the production, quoting and customer ECO processes.This position requires working cross-departments as needed, helping process development, production, and reviewing customer AML/BOM changes for compliance towards product quality IAW IPC/J-STD requirements.


DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE

  Conducts a verification/validation review to assure the component meets design specifications.
  Coordinates failure analysis and corrective activities on component parts.
  Constructs standardized descriptions for all new parts.
  Generates internal standards relating to DFM component selection.
  Generates specifications for all new custom component parts.
  Close loop feedback to customer’s design engineers, evaluation of parts that may better fit their      requirements.
  Provide support to engineering, document control, quote team, program management and purchasing for      procurement and selection of parts and materials, prepare nonstandard part and material submittals,      interface and work with inside and outside labs to interpret test results and define testing for the purposes      of assuring that parts are compliant to requirements.
  Effectively communicate with program management, product/process engineers, management, and      customers on technical issues and status of work.
  Present results of analysis to product/process/quality engineers and customers on a regular basis to      ensure proper interpretation and understanding.
  Act as a technical consultant in areas of expertise and to perform technical reviews of material/component      quality documentation including supplier data, test results, etc. to assure conformance to stated      requirements. Work is closely supervised.
  Follow established procedures and specific, detailed instructions and/or guidance from more senior      functional staff.
  Ability to interface with suppliers and subcontractors to ensure product requirements are met.
  Experience or education concentration in component and/or reliability engineering as related to electrical,      electro-mechanical and electronic (EEE) parts application and selection.
  Understanding of circuit diagrams and how to interpret them.
  Knowledge/familiarity with military and industrial specifications and standards as well as test methods as      they relate to parts and materials.
  Assist in customer’s design engineers in reviews for the purpose of component selection and      standardization formally when requested by customer.
  Reviews the requests for new/all components to assure that can satisfy the current requirements.
  Reviews and offer recommendations for alternate sources of supply when required.
  Member of Material Review Board (MRB) as related to NCMR’s and Quote Team review Staff.
  Other duties as assigned. Knowledge of EEE part construction.

QUALIFICATIONS INCLUDE

  To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.
  The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.
  Strong knowledge of manufacturing Electrical, mechanical and computer systems.
  Experience in electronic and mechanical component analysis and selection.
  Familiarity with industry standard and electronic testing equipment.
  Strong organizational and problem solving skills.
  Solid communication skills, both verbal and written.
  Knowledge of Reliability Prediction (MTBF Calculation) a plus. EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
  B.S. EE, IE, ME or related discipline is desirable, but not required. Extensive experience and training in      similar role is adequate.
  5+ years experiences as Manufacturing or Process Engineer in electronics assembly or similar industry.
  Demonstrated positive Customer Service demeanor.  Superior written and oral communication skills.
  Strong technical background with the understanding of circuit card and box build assemblies.
